She spent a year of
her life in her early 20s
confined to a bed in plaster paris after a fall from a
horse damaged her hip.

Her
first
champions
were
made
in
the
early
1940s
with
Ir.
Ch.
Tirkane
Troublemaker
being
the
first
homebred
champion.

One
of
Millicent's
early Boxers
served
during the
war.
She
attended the first
championship Show to be
held
after
the war
winning
Open
Dog
with Stainburndorf
Bombard
under the well known
American
judge J.
P. Wagner.

In 1946 she
married Knox
Ingram a
well known
"Terrier
man" and
professional
handler of
Terriers and
Gundogs. ‘Knoxie’
showed Wire
& Smooth Fox
Terriers
also Irish
Terriers
under his
own prefix
of Cranmore
and made up
countless
champions.

Cranmore Pets Hotel
& Grooming Business
was established by
Knoxie, originally in
Stockman’s Lane,
Balmoral , Belfast and then in Dundrod, where his daughter Ann carried on
the business until 2001.

1950s - By the late
fifties the very young Ann
Ingram took up the interest
handling some of the dogs in
Children’s handling classes
. This lead to a passion for
the dog breeding world which
still survives today.
1960s - Ann was
interested in Boston
Terriers to have something
different and at age of 14
years made up her first
English Champion Ch. Miss
Print of Torlu.
1970s
saw
the
crowning
of
the
first
English
Champion
Boxer
Tirkane
Avaunt
who
was
the
top
winning
bitch
of
the
year.
The
late
seventies
also
saw
the
arrival
of
the
Toy
Poodles
,
originally
white
ones
but
this
progressed
to
Apricots
and
blacks.
The
first
Irish
Champion
was
made
up
in
the
mid
seventies
followed
by
many
more.

1980s
-
The
eighties
saw
the
Poodles
in
partnership
with
Mrs
Angela
Corish
and
the
first
Eng.
Ch.
Toy
Poodle
Hornstar
Modern
Millie
started
a
successful
run
of
champions.
The
Lhasa
Apso
Ch.
Saxonsprings
Orianna
was
added
to
the
Show
Team
and
she
became
an
English
Champion
and
the
Top
winning
dog
all
breeds
in
Ireland.
Also
the
Miniature
Poodle
Ir.
&
GB.
Ch.
Sealaw
Pacesetter
who
won
15
C.C.s.

1990s
Ann &
Millicent Ingram

Crufts.
Ann, now an
All Breeds Judge,
judged in Australia,
New Zealand,
Malaysia, Thailand,
Singapore, Canada,
South Africa,
Holland, Sweden,
Norway, Finland,
Portugal & Spain.

2000s The
Poodles in
partnership with Kay
Ryan, have carried
on their winning
ways with another
Eng. & Ir. Ch.
Tirkane Fire
Flicker.
The Boxers
are not so actively
shown now due to an
injury to Ann’s leg,
but are still being
bred in a smaller
way.
To date
there have been over
100 Irish Champions
and 19 English
Champions produced
at Tirkane and the
count is still
rising.
